Terms and definitions

Account

All of your practice data, including providers, patients, appointments and messages, as well as settings belong to an account.

Domain

A grouping of accounts belonging to a partner or to an enterprise client, allowing targeted delivery of customizations to such accounts without interfering with other users.

User

A person with credentials to access a DocMeIn account. This is generally a member of practice staff or provider.

Service

Type of appointment defined by the practice and characterized by a certain duration as well as a number of other attributes, allowing fine-grained controls to guide allocation of providers' time to patients.

Provider

A person or resource within a practice with whom patient appointments can be scheduled. Providers may optionally be users if a login is created for them.

Overbooking

Capability to create multiple controlled appointments for a single provider that occupy the same timeslot or overlapping timeslots.

Your questions, answered

The free plan is a great option for learning how DocMeIn works and for occasional users. It offers foundational appointment scheduling and messaging functionality at no cost and is sufficient for beginning users.
• Appointment history is limited to 30 days from today's date.
• Appointments cannot be scheduled more than 30 days in the future.
• Message history is limited to one week.
• Certain advanced features, such as overbooking and mass emails, are not available (see details above).

These limitations can be lifted at any time by subscribing to a paid plan.
No, a credit card number is necessary only to activate a premium feature or subscription plan.
Certainly, we provide support to all of our users. However, keep in mind that helpdesk response time is based on your subscription plan and you may experience longer turnaround times on your requests. We recommend that you check our community support forum first to see if your question has already been answered.
We take strong measures to ensure security and retention of your data:
• Redundant storage in geographically distinct locations.
     • Full encryption of all customer data at rest.
     • Role-based access controls that allow you to assign needs-based permissions to practice users.
     • Audit log is available for all appointment and patient data via Change History feature.
